Fitzroy Stretches was established just on two decades ago by Michael Falkland.

A builder by trade, Michael, frustrated by being unable to find reliable stretcher bars for his artist wife Nevin Hirik, decided to make them for her. So began a passion for producing the finest surfaces, from the best materials, for the creation and preservation of wonderful art.

Quick to establish a loyal following of customers, Michael moved from his small factory in Fitzroy to their current facility in Brunswick. Along the way the business model expanded to include high end art supplies, artist boards and custom framing.
